Joel Sanders is a dynamic and influential figure in law enforcement and public service. His three -decade career spans from patrol to school resource officer to lieutenant in a busy university city and on to Police Chief.
Renowned for his innovative approach and impacts in officer training, crisis negotiation and community-based law enforcement, he has led multidisciplinary crisis intervention teams, and bridged crucial gaps between law enforcement and the mental health community and behavioral health systems. Currently, he is working with legislators to reform funding for basic law enforcement training and advocate for more comprehensive in-service training, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to continuous improvement.
